Big Brothers Big Sisters of Grey Bruce & West Simcoe (BBBSGBWS) is seeking energetic, dedicated volunteers to join our growing organization. We are a non-profit charity, providing mentorship services to youth ages 6-18 in both schools and communities. As a vibrant, collaborative, community-focused organization we believe in creating communities where young people belong and are empowered to unlock their potential.
Volunteer Opportunities:
Community-Based Volunteer
- Join us as a Mentor in our community-based volunteer program. Connect with a local youth (ages 6-18) in your community. Spend one hour a week engaging in fun, skill-building activities and make an impact! (One year commitment)
School-Based Volunteer
- School-based volunteers spend one hour weekly connecting with a group of Mentees (ages 6-16) within the school environment. Mentors are provided with programming that supports educational success. Join us as a school-based Mentor and make an impact! (Four month commitment)
Group-Based Volunteer
- Group program volunteers support the BBBSGBWS team in a variety of unique settings, including our Outdoor Wellness Program, Youth Council meetings and Big Bunch events. This position is great for students. (Flexible commitment)
Agency Volunteer
- With the BBBSGBWS team engage in fundraising support and be a BBBSGBWS brand ambassador. Join our team at local youth events, connect with children, youth, families and make an impact!
To volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters, you should:
- Be interested in developing a positive relationship with a local child or youth
- Promote the welfare and safety of children and youth and act with integrity
- Be trustworthy, energetic, mature, reliable, patient and respectful of others
- Be supportive and non-judgmental in your interactions with children and youth

What will be expected of me?
- Commit approximately one to two hours per week (this varies across programs)
- Commit for up to one year or as little as four months (this varies across programs)
- Complete pre-match training and screening to ensure the safety and security of children and youth
- Receive ongoing connection, training and support from BBBSGBWS
- Communicate openly and regularly with the parents/guardians
- Communicate openly and regularly with the BBBSGBWS Mentorship Coordinator team

Make a Difference in a Child's life, Become an In-home Volunteer Angel!
Do you want to support families impacted by cancer? Can you commit four (4) hours per week to providing psychosocial support to a child in need? Join Nankind and help lessen the impact of cancer on families by offering in-home childcare support.
How You Can Help:

Provide psychosocial support to help children develop coping skills and build resilience.

Provide fun, educational, creative, and safe experiences for children.

Commit to a minimum of six (6) months to ensure stability during a parent’s cancer treatment and recovery.

Offer four (4) hours of childcare support per week to the same family in your area.

At least one year of professional childcare experience (babysitting, teaching, tutoring, etc.). Experience caring for a sibling or relative does not qualify unless you are a parent or grandparent.

Responsible for sales, promoting, inventory, tourist information and museum tours.




On-site Volunteer at Earl Rowe Provincial Park, Alliston
- Help people with disabilities kayak and canoe
- Check paperwork, PFDs and other equipment
- If volunteer wishes to assist on water we will train canoe or kayak for a small fee, adaptive training is free
Off-site Volunteer
- Help with office administration including record keeping, spreadsheets, grant writing, Board of Directors








- Cook, bake, gardening
- Activities with residence
- Supporting with activities of daily living


Volunteers are needed to accompany North Simcoe residents registered with our Transportation programs.
- Volunteers will assist people:
- Shopping
- Getting to social activities
- Help navigate health appointments


Retirement Lodge Volunteers assist with activities for our residents such as:
- Friendly visits with seniors
- Recreational activities
- Assisting at meal times
- Playing a friendly game of cards or taking a short walk










Our volunteers help in various aspects of our organization, from direct interaction with program participants, to behind-the-scenes roles.

S.H.I.F.T. Fundraising Committe and Event Volunteers
This committee is a team of volunteers focused on the planning, developing and execution of key fundraising events to support the operational costs of S.H.I.F.T. Working alongside our Donor Relations & Stewardship Officer and a member of our Board of Directors, this committee plays an important role in ensuring the organization has adequate funds for operations.
If you have sales/fundraising experience and a passion for this community, we would love you to join us! We are a fun group, promise!
Time commitments will vary depending on the time of year and the specific event. You don’t need to commit to being part of every fundraising event but we do ask that you have a minimum of 4 hours a month to give to this committee and the responsibilities that come with it.
Coldest Night of the Year - Event Volunteer - Open December through February annually
Volunteers are a large part of the success of our annual CNOY event!
Every year between October and the end of February we look for volunteers to join us in having a blast to raise much needed funds and awareness for S.H.I.F.T.
There are lots of fun volunteer roles to choose from in the Coldest Night of the Year! Roles include: Check-In Crew, Greeters, Route Marshalls, Food Team, Rest Stop Hosts, Send-Off/Welcome Back Crew, and more! Many of our roles are needed for most of the day, while others have shorter timeframes.

Rides for residents of North Simcoe without access to transportation within North Simcoe for health, shopping and social activities. Out-of-town rides for medical appointments.
- Provide safe, reliable, professional and courteous transportation service to residents of North Simcoe, using your own vehicle
- Communicate with transportation staff and passengers regarding scheduled rides.
- Ensure adherence to the Community Reach program procedures and policies including confidentiality agreement.
- Schedule based on driver's availability and comfort level with duration and length of rides.

- Have a clear understanding of the traumatic effects of domestic violence and/or human trafficking on an individual
- Listen to clients to assess their needs and recommend resources to meet those needs

- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and efficiently with minimal supervision
- Share our passion and dedication to making a real difference in the lives of women (particularly BIPOC women) who have experienced trauma through domestic violence and/or human trafficking
- Deliver to a high standard, in pften challenging circumstances, both ethically and professionally and are able to work collaboratively in a culturally diverse organization
- You will demonstrate a commitment to the organization's missions and values

Once fully trained, you will help us assist the police to search for lost and missing persons, and respond to emergencies in the community (e.g. natural disaster cleanup and support)

Working with Children and Families, the EarlyON Assistant will help with childcare and meeting/greeting of families at our Collingwood site. Assist with innovative childcare programming and professionals while supporting families.



Across the country, the Gutsy Walk is made possible due to the time and talents shared by thousands of volunteers in their communities. With a collective goal to deliver our mission of finding a cure for Crohn's and colitis, we are greatly appreciative and thankful for our volunteers who have continuously led the Gutsy Walk to success each year.
As a Gutsy Walk Planning Committee Member, you’ll be working closely with a team of other volunteers to plan and promote your local Gutsy Walk. Your efforts in connecting and engaging your community—whatever your volunteer role with Gutsy Walk—will make a big impact in raising awareness about IBD and finding cures.
In particular, we’re looking for volunteers to support their local Gutsy Walk in the following ways:
- Community Outreach –inspire people to sign up and participate in the local Gutsy Walk
- Media Relations –connect with local media outlets to promote the Gutsy Walk
- Social Media –raise awareness about IBD and the Gutsy Walk through social media
- Fundraising –organize exciting fundraisers in your community
- Corporate Sponsorship –engage with local businesses to promote donations of sponsorship and gifts in kind
- Stewardship –build relationships with Gutsy Walk participants and encourage engagement




Supporting the personal goals of Individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities residing in group homes to be active participating members of the community. The may include playing games, crafts, baking, entertainment (movie watching/listening to and/or playing music) within a congregate residence. There may be opportunity to participate in day outings or special events.


To Advocate Educate and Celebrate on behalf of the 2SLGBTAI plus community.


Providing first Aid support at local community events.








Support the independent social/community activities of Individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities through outings, walks, game-playing, conversation or interaction with other community programs. This Volunteer role encourages engagement and joy through relationship building and recreational activities.
