A Community Treatment Order (CTO) is a physician's order for community based treatment for individuals living with a serious mental illness who have had repeated hospital admissions and require ongoing support when they leave the hospital

• a CTO helps to ensure that individuals receive the mental health support they require to maintain wellness in the community. The CTO obligates the individual to comply with treatment, attending appointments with a monitoring physician, mental health clinicians and medication support
• The CTO Coordinator provides support to every CTO that is issued in Ontario Health atHome Region 12 (Simcoe Muskoka)
• support includes: assessing clients' suitability for a CTO, assisting physicians to complete the proper forms and advocating for services for those individuals meeting the criteria for a CTO
• service also provides education and information about Community Treatment Orders, Mental Health Act and related legislation, to any interested individual or group as requested
